AMERICA'S CUP POSTPONED, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Covid-19

The America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) event, due to be raced in Cagliari, Sardinia, April 23 – 26 2020, has been called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The opening event of the three-regatta ACWS circuit would have seen the teams competing in the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada, racing their first generation AC75 high-performance foiling monohulls against each other for the very first time.

The sad news of the America's Cup been postponed until further notice might have already reached you. Public gatherings have been banned. Sporting events have been canceled everywhere in the world, Italy included. Nautica Assistance is disappointed to be sharing this unavoidable news, but in these difficult times NA team gets even closer to its clients and keeps working on first-hand news, reinforcing communication about the current situation in Italy and locally from Sardinia.

The last official post from The America's Cup reports:

'Due to “force majeure” - following the declaration of the Pandemic COVID-19 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the restrictions imposed by the different governments - COR 36 has declared the impossibility of organizing the ACWS Sardinia - Cagliari (23-26 April) event at the scheduled date.
COR 36 also submitted a proposal to the Defender to postpone the event to a new date.
The Defender published a press release in which it announced the cancellation of the ACWS Sardinia – Cagliari without mentioning COR’s proposal of a new date for the event, and refused COR’s proposal without even discussing it.
COR 36 will submit to the Arbitration Panel the postponement of the ACWS Sardinia - Cagliari to a new date.'

Portus Karalis, the major port in Cagliari city centre, equipped and ready to berth most yachts attending the America's cup shared that: all yachts booked to attend the event in April will be able to use the funds, already paid for their booking, hopefully in the near future, when the America's Cup dates, if postponed, are out again or as soon as the situation gets better to enjoy and relax in Cagliari and South Sardinia. The funds will be valid also for Marina di Porto Rotondo which belongs to the same property.
