The beach of Cala Luna is located north of Arbatax and not far from Cala Gonone, in the Gulf of Orosei. This large white-sand beach is at only 3 km. far from the famous Bue Marino Caves which open up on the sea and can be easily reached by boat coasting along the cliffs up to their stately entrance. On the beach, there is a small woods with pink oleanders, which partially hides the stream that flows in the green and deep valley. The seabed is low, making the beach ideal for children and families, and many people also choose it as a destination for snorkeling, diving, and even climbing and trekking.
The beach of Cala Sisine is located north of Arbatax, in the province of Nuoro, between Cala Luna and Cala Biriola. The brilliant white, sandy beach divides the turquoise sea from the deep green of the Mediterranean maquis which covers the hills. Diving, snorkeling, climbing and trekking are common activities on this beach.
The beach of Cala Biriola is located between Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu, north of Arbatax. It is characterized by a little stone arch over the sea, the white, limestone sand, marble-rocks, junipers and the maquis on the rocks. Perfect place for people keen on scuba diving.
The beach of Cala Mariolu is located along the middle eastern coast of Sardinia, in the province of Nuoro. The beach is near to Cala Biriola and Cala Goloritzè. It is a stunning pebbled beach overhung by a chalky hillside covered by Mediterranean vegetation. The bottom is rocky and suitable for scuba diving. Some rocks emerge from the sea and form tiny islands. The sun shines all morning long while the rest of the day the beach is in the shade. As the other beaches around the area, it's perfect for climbing and trekking on the land and snorkeling and diving inside the water.
The beach of Cala Goloritzè is located along sardinian northeastern coast, in the north of Arbatax. In 1995 it was elected "Italian National Monument" and it is the most photographed beach in the Ogliastra area. The bottom is clear and 30 m high. The white pebbled beach is unique of its kind and its waters are colder than normal. On the land around the beach activities such as trekking, climbing, free-climbing and bird-watching are available, while divers and snorkellers that choose it as their destination are many.
The beach of Santa Maria Navarrese is located in front of the homonym village, in the province of Ogliastra. The beach is in front of the church Vergine Assunta built in the 1052 and south of the Torre Saracena; it is an enchanting bay sheltered from the wind and edged by red igneous rocks. Behind the beach there is a beautiful pine forest. From the tourist harbour you can hire rubber dinghiesor boats to reach in a short time the beaches of Cala Goloritzè, Cala Mariolu, Cala Biriola, Cala Sisine and Cala Luna. A beach-umbrellas and deck-chairs rental is available on the beach.
The beach of Porto Frailis is a small, quiet bay that has fine, white sand flanked by cliffs. Its waters are crystal clear and of a changing blue due to the shades created by the sun reflecting off the sea. It has a lot of facilities: it has a large car park, hotel, campsite, café, refreshment point and nearby there are pubs and clubs in general which offer a particularly vibrant nightlife. Porto Frailis has shallow waters which allow children to play safely. It is possible to rent beach umbrellas, sun loungers and pedal boats. Being windy, it is an ideal spot for surfers and is loved by scuba fishing enthusiasts and by those simply wishing to dive in its waters, perhaps with a mask and flippers to do some snorkelling in the underwater world rich in pleasant surprises.
