EACH DROP MAKES THE OCEAN. REFLEXIONS ABOUT COVID-19

Covid-19

It is difficult to be resilient and positive when one reads how the whole world has been affected by COVID 19, but, as the days pass by, locked in our homes, we can't avoid thinking about the major issues that took the world to this point, so why not making better use of our time by working on future actions?

Apparently the universe forced us to stand up in front of an unprecedented chance of change.
Just after few days of blockage, nature is already sending the first positive signs! In Venice the total lockdown has helped in clearing the city’s canals. As reported By CNN, ‘the locals have noticed a huge difference in the clarity of the water. The air quality has improved in the city. Water has become so clear across Italy that fishes can be seen and even the swans and dolphins have returned. Twitter users pointed out that improved water quality across Italy has brought dolphins to the Port of Cagliari and ducks in the fountains of Rome. Furthermore, schools of fish can be seen in Venetian canals too.' Incredibly, in Olbia we have seen, a few days ago, wild boars walking undisturbed at night in one of the main entrances of the city. We strongly believe it’s time to reconsider our habits for the future as we are all involved in this change.

In Italy there is a saying: “turn need into a virtue” and this is the right moment in which a community of good thinkers can make the difference. The yachting community together can do a lot and we believe that now like never before our common efforts could make the difference in helping our planet to survive. As soon as the situation gets back to normality, we know nothing will be the same. Let’s all think of new ways to enjoy our beautiful world. Let’s keep those amazing green goals we have been planning before COVID 19 and let’s make them urgent and real on our list of priorities. We have the power to do so.

The fight we are facing these days is a common fight that the entire humanity is called to join. The conscious behaviour of each one of us will determine how fast we will get out of this surreal scenery. We must be ready to make the same common effort towards nature and its delicate ecosystem once we will be back to our normal lives.

Each drop makes the ocean.

Health comes before economy. This is the main message China and Italy have been giving, forcing the lockdown, now a necessary action for the entire world. What would be the meaning of such common huge effort if afterwards we all returned to the same lifestyle?
